BENDTNER: SUNDERLAND CAREER EXAMINED

Controversial Danish striker NicklasBendtner was an Arsenal player when he signed for Sunderland while they were still a Premier League club on the final day of the summer’s transfer window in 2011. NicklasBendtner left Arsenal to join the Black Cats on a one-year loan deal. Steve Bruce was influential in his decision to join Sunderland having managed the striker while he was with him at Birmingham as an Arsenal loanee.

A few days after his loan move to Sunderland, NicklasBendtner revealed that he won't play for Arsenal again after they failed to support him on the back of his car accident.

Danish striker Bendtner made his Sunderland debut against Chelsea and he was able to make his first Sunderland game with an assist. His first Sunderland goal arrived against hosts West Brom as he helped his team recover from a two-goal to secure a 2-2 draw. The month of March was the most productive for Bendtner as he scored four goals in five league games. He had earlier been affected by a fractured cheekbone sustained during the league game against Swansea City in January and he had to wear a protective mask to play some games.
