Eriksen is keen on Real Madrid move

Sky Sports reporter Guillem Balague believes Christian Eriksen is waiting to make the move to Real Madrid and that could be the prime reason behind turning down a new contract at Tottenham Hotspur. The Denmark international has evolved into one of Spurs’ constants in the attack front, but his future with the club is hanging in the balance with his existing deal due to expire in 15 months’ time.

Speaking on his official YouTube channel, Balague said that Eriksen could be eager to make the switch to the Bernabeu and that has played some part in declining a new contract at Spurs, he quipped: “Christian Eriksen hasn’t signed a new contract for Spurs. Real Madrid showed interest in Harry Kane and in Eriksen, at least a year and a half ago, and Harry Kane signed a new contract after that and Eriksen hasn’t.

“So Eriksen is waiting for Real Madrid. Real Madrid feel that he will be the perfect replacement for Modric. Not sure I agree with that, but in any case, that is what Real Madrid are thinking, so they want Eriksen, they will try to get him, the problem will always be Daniel Levy sell? And that conversation hasn’t taken place yet.”

Eriksen have been keeping a close watch on the Dane’s proceedings since the turn of the year and they have been associated with the midfielder on multiple occasions over the past few months. Nonetheless, there remains uncertainty whether they could lodge an approach, considering Zinedine Zidane may have other transfer plans in mind after re-joining the club last month.

The French tactician has been given the assurance of a mega spending spree by the club ahead of the summer, and reports have recently indicated that Manchester United’s Paul Pogba could emerge as one of the prime targets, though the Red Devils remain reluctant to sell.
