Christian Eriksen says Tottenham Hotspur can reach the next level at new stadium

Denmark international Christian Eriksen has said that Tottenham Hotspur can reach the next level in terms of performances when they make the switch to their new stadium. The north London club were initially expected to begin their season at the newly-constructed homeground, but delays have meant that their opening game has been delayed until April 3 where they are scheduled to host Crystal Palace.

Speaking to Ekstra Bladet, Eriksen said: "I've been looking at it and it's an exceptional stadium that will mean a lot to the club for many years to come. I think without a doubt it helps to take the club to take the next step. We have been waiting for a while at the stadium after all, so it will be great to get back to the stadium that will be our home for the next many years."

Tottenham had offered a strong tussle for the Premier League crown until January and they were six points behind the table-toppers at one stage. However, their form has deceived them over the past month and a run of just three points from five league games has dropped them out of contention for the title and under pressure to make the top four.

At present, the Capital outfit are occupying the third position on the table but they don’t have much room for error with just three points separating them from fifth-placed Manchester United. Following the international break, Spurs are scheduled to face Liverpool on the road and the game should present a difficult challenge, given their struggles at Anfield over the years.

Tottenham have barely enjoyed success on their trips to Anfield, and their last triumph came nearly eight years ago where they secured a 2-0 win. Rafael van der Vaart and a Luka Modric penalty won the game on that occasion.
